Una vista del Castel dell'Ovo.Il castello nasce sull'antico isolotto di Megaride, poi collegato alla terraferma. Il nome del castello viene fatto risalire ad un'antica leggenda napoletana, nella quale si narra che Virgilio avesse nascosto un uovo nei sotterranei del castello, legando in tal modo le sorti della città a quelle dell'uovo: infatti, se l'uovo si fosse rotto la città sarebbe stata distrutta. Questo monumento, che trasmette la storia, la cultura e l'arte napoletana, rappresenta un luogo magico, dove è possibile ammirare la città in tutte le sue sfumature: una varietà infinita di colori. A due passi dal castello c'è il Borgo Marinari, altrettanto caratteristico. Qui è possibile fittare barche, fare un aperitivo al sole, ad esempio, al bar l'Imbarcadero oppure mangiare in uno dei ristoranti storici (ma costosi!) di Napoli, stando attenti ad evitare bar e ristoranti turistici!!!
A sight of Castel dell'Ovo (= the egg's castle).
The name of this castle is linked to an old legend. In fact, people believe that in the castle Virgilio hid an egg in order to link the fate of Naples to the fate of the egg: if the egg was broken, Naples would be destroyed. This monument, that get you the idea of napolitan history, culture and art, represent a magic play, where you can see all the colors of Naples. Close to the castle you can find the Borgo Marinari equally distinctive. Here you can rent a boat, get an aperitif under the sun, for exaple, at the Imbarcadero (I like this place also to have a nice, light lunch) or you can eat in one of the old (and expensive!) napolitan restaurat, but don't forget: run out of turistic restaurant!!! ...
